Northlight Artspace

At Northlight you can join a class but you can also come and take part in or visit

extra events such as Exhibitions, Artists Talks, ‘Show and Tell’ Evenings and Fairs

Artspace is the name that we have given to our multifunctional ground floor space. As well as a light teaching space the room is often transformed into a bright gallery and Exhibition Space. Our termly programme often includes exhibitions from guest artists. We usually have a preview evening on a Friday followed by the exhibition which is open to all over a weekend.

We also use this space for Artists Talks which are open to all students and the public usually on a Friday evening once a term. Artists may share their own work or give an illustrated talk on the work of a particular person or movement. Open discussion follows, plus an opportunity to socialise with a glass of wine.

‘Show and Tell’ Evenings take place usually once a term, again on a Friday evening - where our resident studio artist and students informally share what they are currently working on over a glass of wine. It’s an informal and safe place to talk about your work and receive feedback. The sessions are open to all - why don’t you come along and see - you don’t need to show your work you can just listen and ask questions.

Will Lake

It’s the overall mood of an everyday scene that really catches my eye, and I love to capture natural light – or the lack of it. I shoot on the move and keep things simple and naturalistic, preferring not to use a tripod or filters and doing little or no processing once the image is taken.

 John Linney

I photograph both landscape and towns/streets. I’m as interested in a stunning view as I am a person or townscape captured in a moment. Light, form and movement shape my photography. This collection is based on my street, urban, human work.
